The
Opportunity
Currently in the US there are over 17 million privately held businesses with
that number growing rapidly. The average business sells every 4.9 years which
means that 20%, or 3.4 million businesses, are for sale at any one given time.
What you need to understand is that the 3400 business brokers in the United States
cannot even begin to handle the acquisitions of all of these businesses. This
leaves a tremendous opportunity for you as an American Business Broker to build
a successful business.

- American Business Brokers Network does NOT.........
- •Take part of your commissions in
the form of royalties or percentages.
• Try to run the day-to-day operations of your business.
It is your business and you need to run it based on your personality.
• Obtain any licensing for you. We will assist you in determining if the
state or area you decide to work in requires a license and if so what will be
needed to go forward.
• We don’t require you to have an office or staff. The world we live
in today has changed dramatically and it will continue to change. More people
are working from home and using the electronic capabilities and cyberspace to
generate more money that was with the old model of having an office.
• We don’t require you to wear shirts & ties or dress clothes.
YOU are the business. What you say and do will be a reflection of the business.
We are here to provide the infrastructure not dress you and tell you how to act.
• We don’t tell you what kind of businesses you have to sell. Some
people only want to sell restaurants or something that they are familiar with.
That is fine, it is up to you. What we will do is tell what does sell the most
at this time and the pluses and mimeses of specializing in a certain area.
• We don’t say you can only work in your protected territory. The
protected territory is so that we don’t sell another license in your area
as long as you are in the system. You can work with Buyers and Sellers any where
in the country and if you are from another country. Fine you can work with them
too. The point is you are not confined to a certain area of selling. Just the
opposite.
• We don’t fill out your forms for you. We will show you how and give
you examples and you can go from there. If you desire to use an attorney to review
your forms and assist you that is your decision. Remember it is your business.
• We don’t require you to attend national conventions or sales meetings.
You are supposed to be working with Buyers and Sellers. Occasionally we will
contact you with events and materials that we feel are beneficial for you and
you should consider, but not a requirement.
• We don’t require you to acquire any special certifications or belong
to any organizations. We want you to meet State and local requirements as a business
broker and to do what you are in the business to do. “Help Buyers Buy & Sellers
Sell Businesses.
• We don’t get your Buyers & Sellers for you. That is your job.
If anybody says that that they are going to do this for you they are wrong. Only
YOU can produce the Buyers and Sellers you will need to make your business produce
and be profitable. Your business will only be as profitable as you want it to
be. We know we have pretty well seen it all and know that the ones that devote
the time and energy to their business do very well in any economy.
• We don’t hold your hand and sugar coat things for you!
Selling businesses is hard work. As is any business that you want to be successful
and profitable. There is no easy road to riches and business brokerage is not
the silver bullet of instant money. However, what it is, is one of the most rewarding
professions in the world if you enjoy helping people solve their problems, enjoy
being solution minded, have the ability to think on your feet and love to feel
the thrill of making deals and looking to next big deal with the six figure check.
If you can handle the ups and downs and the thrill of the chase, then you may
have what it takes to be a business broker.
